Description:

The first impression is, the Philips radio is a German radio due to the typical nice and timeless looking round shape at the edges. The radio is Made in Holland, but inside you see mainly German electronic parts.
Another typical German part is the electrostatic tweeter, which results in a very nice and pleasant high frequency sound reproduction.
The FM tuner uses an ECC81 instead of the usual ECC85 tube. The reception quality and sensitivity is the same as with the ECC85, even if the ECC81 misses the internal grounding shield.

Repairs:

• Only a few capacitors are renewed, in this the coupling capacitor and loudness capacitor.
• Later all the other WIMA capacitors are renewed for an optimal reception and performance.

Performance:

Sound quality is very well due to the application of the electrostatic tweeter as well as the application of a large output transformer, which results in low distortion, high output power and good bass reproduction, even with the small 7 inch loudspeaker.
